SDHC cards are similar shape and size to standard SD cards, but will only work in SDHC compatible devices. Like SD cards, SDHC cards have been designed with reliability and durability in mind, ideal for storing large amounts of images, movie files and music. Unlike SD cards though, SDHC cards fall into 1 of 3 categories, Class 2, Class 4 and Class 6. The Class of the card determines the minimum sustained write speed to the card in megabytes, Class 6 = 6MB/sec, Class 4 = 4MB/sec and finally Class 2 = 2MB/sec. Primarily designed for movie recording, it is important to know the minimum sustained write speed rather than the maximum speed which is normally quoted on the other cards. |
